Normal Acne infections are called in different names. They are once considered different from each other but in depth studies found out that they are caused by the same bacteria and started out similarly with each other. The difference only appears as the infection progresses and remedy was not administered during the initial phase of the acne infection. As the pores get clogged by sebum Whiteheads appears. Whiteheads are characterized by small bumps with white content and if you squeeze it and rapture the skin, the clogged dried out sebum oozes out in a thick consistency. Blackheads are acne where the top covering of a whiteheads are removed and the sebum is exposed and gets oxidized it darkens the sebum resembling the black color of the infection. As the fatty acids started to irritate the skin lining of the pores, it becomes papules and it becomes to get itchy, as the acne infection continues, it started to produce pus and filled the cavity of the infected pores with it. This is the conventional pimple almost all of us encounter and it still red on the rim of the infected area signifying the continuous irritation on the lining of the pores. If the infection started to penetrate the lower layer of the skin, the pus filled cavity enlarges and filled the lower chamber with pus becoming an acne nodule. Acne nodule started to become cystic in nature when pus started to fill the acne infection. Usually when acne infection reaches the nodule and cystic phase it is considered a severe type of infection and usually last for almost a year and create the worst possible scar that is visible and unsightly to look at.

There are four common active ingredients that can be found in every over the counter medicine in used today. These four active ingredients are listed below:

Benzoyl peroxide – This compound is considered to be the most effective active ingredient to ward off the bacteria that causes acne infection.  This active ingredient also reduce the excretion of oil coming from the king and help remove dead skin cells and dirt that prevents the oil from flowing freely out the pores of the skin. Just try to reduce the exposure with this active ingredient because excess use would cause dryness and stinging sensation to your skin.

Salicylic Acid – This active ingredient reduce the breakup of skin cells that are the reason for having a clogged pores in the first place. Once the skin scaling has been reduced, acne infection drops significantly. Sensitive skin will have mild stinging sensation and some skin irritation.

Alpha hydroxyl acids- By removing dead skin cell like Salicylic acid and reduce the inflammation of acne infected skin. This active ingredient helps promote regrowth of healthy skin cell and keeps the skin smooth complexion.

Sulfur- Same with other common acne treatment active ingredients, this active ingredient can help reduced the oiliness of the skin and removes the dead skin cell that can cause the clogged pores that produces the acne infection. These dries up the infection and reduce the inflammation of the skin.

Laser skin tightening works by helping our body restructure our collagen properly. By heating the collagen underneath the skin, it melts the damaged collagen and provides a space for new collagen to grow back. The neighboring collagen tissues get heated by the laser light and get stimulated by the heat increasing the rate of growth for new collagen fiber increasing the volume of collagen fiber during the healing process. And as it heals it the collagen grow in size pushing the top layer of the skin farther apart making it looks smoother and firmer.

To avoid burning the top layer of the skin, a gel like substance is applied during the laser treatment. This gel act as a cooling agent which suppresses burning of the top skin but continuously let the laser heats up the collagen fiber underneath the skin. With this procedure, it decreases the abrasion of the top skin decreasing the risk of infection when skin is exposed on abrasive surgery. It also increases the healing rate fewer skin cells are damaged during the procedures. At the end of the procedure and during the healing process, all you feel are minor bruises some blisters and quite a minimal discomfort on the affected area.

Because Laser skin tightening is non surgical operation it is less painful and has less healing time compared with conventional skin and acne treatment. The non-abrasive nature of this treatment is very effective because it decreases the risk of further exposure to harmful microbes compared with abrasive skin treatment procedure where the skin is wounded and left to heal. Without proper cleaning procedure, these wound are exposed to the elements and may possibly catch microbes that may infect the wound.

Laser skin tightening uses laser light and it is targeted to the infected area penetrating just right below the skin where the collagen is located. Collagen is the fibrous tissue that provides elasticity and smoothness to our skin by pushing the top layer of the skin apart with its volume. The more collagen you have on your skin the smoother and firmer it becomes giving you a younger looking skin. The laser light heats the layer of collagen underneath the targeted area and it stimulates the growth of more collagen increasing its volume thus pushing the skin tighter and firmer. The only side effects of this are minor bruises and blisters and minimal discomfort all around the operated area.

Chemical Peeling is the most economical way of acne scar treatment and can be done with minimal professional dermatologist supervision. Chemical Peeling can cause irritation to the skin if the patient skin is sensitive to the chemicals that would be applied for the acne treatment. A simple skin patching test applied on the patients arm would be recommended before undergoing a chemical peeling regimen.

Dermabrasion is considered a major surgery and localized anesthesia is needed before undergoing dermabrasion. Soft tissue filler is also one of the possible scar treatment procedures a person can undergo but because of too many long term side effects, it is becoming less advisable to undertake. A patient is injected with artificial collagen on the affected area and it will fill up the empty cavities of the scar and stretch out the skin making it smoother but the effect will soon wear off after a few years. So continuous injection is advise to ensure scar would not show up anymore.

For chemical peeling, the chemical properties of chemical peels can decrease infection because it’s potent enough to destroy the bacteria that cause the infection, but it is only advisable if the acne infection is just superficial or shallow enough to be affected by the chemical applied to induce skin peeling. Usually, Chemical Peeling is recommended for acne scars but if your acne infection is starting to heal and the infection is not too deep, Chemical peeling is a recommend acne treatment procedure to help decrease the appearance of acne scars and eliminate the bacteria causing acne at the same time.

Microdermabrasion uses its freezing agent to freeze off the top portion of the skin. As it freezes the skin and prepare it up for dermabrasion, it freezes off bacteria too, killing it off, decreasing the spread of bacterial infection and as the abrasion or peeling starts the frozen damaged skin is removed along with the frozen bacteria that is spread all over the skin.
